Stephen R. Phillips,
CIC

President & Account Executive

Meet Stephen,

Stephen started working full time at the agency in October of 1980. He is the third generation of the Phillips family to work at the agency. He has many very fond memories working with his father Bill and his uncle Jim. In 1989 he bought the agency from Bill and Jim, and is still a majority owner today. While working at the agency, he attended the University of Michigan - Flint, studying accounting. Stephen obtained his Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC) designation from The National Alliance of Insurance Education in 1994 and has maintained it since.

Stephen resides with his wife, Marlene. Together they have five children, who are all married and have given them fourteen grandchildren. Stephen enjoys the family gatherings throughout the year. There is one particularly special place for the Phillips family to gather, and that is Chippewa Lake, which has been in the family since 1924.

Stephen's activities of interest include: doing yard work, fishing with his grandchildren, antiquing with Marlene, and vintage motorcycles. His motorcycle brand of choice is Hodaka. Stephen has a collection of Hodaka’s and enjoys buying, selling, riding, restoring them, and racing Michigan vintage motocross. Stephen volunteers as the club secretary for Bulldog Riders Motorcycle Club, a not for profit motocross club in Millington, Michigan.

Zachery S. Phillips, CIC, CRM, CISR

Vice President & Account Executive

Meet Zach,

Zach has been serving in his current role at the agency since 2012. He first started in the insurance industry when he was 16, doing home inspections. He is a graduate of the University of Michigan, where he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Finance. He has since gone on and earned the following industry designations from The National Alliance of Insurance Education: Certified Insurance Counselor (CIC), Certified Risk Manager (CRM), and Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR). He has also earned the Chartered Property & Casualty Underwriters (CPCU) designation offered by The Institutes.

Zach, in addition to spending time with his family, enjoys many outdoor activities such as cycling, fishing, sporting clays, windsurfing, sailing, skiing, camping, and hiking. One of his favorite quotes is by President Dwight D. Eisenhower: "...Plans are useless, but planning is indispensable".

Deborah K. Sipes, CISR, CRIS

Commercial Lines Account Manager

Meet Deb,

Deb has been working with the agency since 2006. She has an eye for details and is very capable in all aspects of the agency. She has earned the following industry designations: Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) from The National Alliance of Insurance Education & Construction Risk & Insurance Specialist (CRIS) from The International Risk Management Institute.

Deb resides with her husband of 31 years, Brian, in Swartz Creek, MI. She enjoys spending time with her children and grandchildren. She is a “dance grandma” and loves being involved cheering for her granddaughter during dance competitions.

Alexandra C. Edwards, CISR

Personal Lines Account Manager

Meet Alex,

Alex started at the agency in 2016. She started without an insurance background, but dove in and quickly learned the nuances of the industry. She has attained her Certified Insurance Service Representative (CISR) designation and is currently working towards her Personal Lines Coverage Specialist (PLCS) designation. She enjoys working with the agency’s personal lines customers, helping them make informed decisions about home, auto, life, and health insurance.

Alex resides in Swartz Creek, MI with her fiancé, Devin, and her son, Mason. When she is not working, she enjoys spending time with her fiancé and son. She also enjoys crafting, painting, playing music, and singing. She has quite the eye for detail and is a very creative and altruistic person.

Daniel J. O'Dea,
CPIA

Commercial Lines Account Executive

Meet Dan,

After a short stint at AAA Insurance, Dan moved over to the independent agent side of the industry. He started working at the agency in 2002. He attended Central Michigan University, studying marketing and business administration. He has since gone on to obtain his Certified Professional Insurance Agent (CPIA) designation.

Dan resides with his wife, Nancy, in Flint, MI. Together they have 5 beautiful children and seven grandkids. When he is not working with customers, he enjoys spending time with his family (especially his grandkids), going up north, and volunteering at his church.
